         สถาบันสิทธิมนุษยชนและสันติศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมกับ มูลนิธิ Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) สถาบันปรีดี โครงการหอจดหมายเหตุ 6 ตุลา กลุ่มปูมประวัติศาสตร์ หอจดหมายเหตุและพิพิธภัณฑ์มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล วิทยาลัยศาสนศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล วิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และสถาบันสื่อสร้างสรรค์เด็กและเยาวชน (สสย.) จัด “เทศกาลสันติภาพจิตวิญญาณมหิดลเพื่อสังคมสันติประชาธรรม: บทเรียนจากควังจู เกาหลีใต้ ถึง 50 ปี 6 ตุลา ประชาธิปไตยไทย” หรือ เทศกาลสันติภาพ 2569 (Peace Festival Week 2026) ระหว่างวันที่ 17–19 สิงหาคม 2569 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ศาลายา เพื่อเปิดพื้นที่แห่งการเรียนรู้ แลกเปลี่ยน และทบทวนบทเรียนทางประวัติศาสตร์ ประชาธิปไตย สิทธิมนุษยชน และสันติภาพ ผ่านมุมมองจากเหตุการณ์ควังจู ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ เชื่อมโยงสู่การเรียนรู้จากเหตุการณ์ 6 ตุลาคม 2519 และการสร้างสังคมสันติประชาธรรมในบริบทไทย

      วันที่ 17 สิงหาคม 2569 ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.พัทธ์ธีรา นาคอุไรรัตน์ รักษาการแทนรองผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายบริหาร สถาบันสิทธิมนุษยชนและสันติศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล กล่าวต้อนรับวิทยากรและแขกผู้มีเกียรติ พร้อมแนะนำความเป็นมาและเจตนารมณ์ของการจัดเทศกาลสันติภาพ ซึ่งมุ่งสร้างพื้นที่ให้คนรุ่นต่าง ๆ ได้พบปะ แลกเปลี่ยน และร่วมกันเรียนรู้จากประสบการณ์ในอดีต เพื่อนำไปสู่การสร้างสังคมที่เคารพสิทธิมนุษยชน ความแตกต่าง และประชาธิปไตย

      จากนั้น ได้รับเกียรติจาก ศาสตราจารย์ นพ.ปิยะมิตร ศรีธรา อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล กล่าวเปิดงาน เทศกาลสันติภาพ 2569 (Peace Festival Week 2026) ดำเนินรายการโดย ดร.ระพี บุญเปลื้อง รองคณบดีฝ่ายสื่อสารองค์กรและวิเทศสัมพันธ์ คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ณ ศูนย์ประชุมและอาคารจอดรถมหิดลสิทธาคาร มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ศาลายา

      ภายในงานมีการปาฐกถาในหัวข้อ “ภาระที่เหลือของมหิดลหลังทศวรรษที่ 5 ของการเคลื่อนไหว” โดย ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.นพ.วีระศักดิ์ จงสู่วิวัฒน์วงศ์ ศิษย์เก่าแพทยศาสตร์รามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมสะท้อนบทบาทและความรับผิดชอบของสถาบันการศึกษาต่อสังคม ตลอดจนการสืบทอดจิตวิญญาณของมหิดลในการสร้างสังคมที่ยึดมั่นในสันติภาพ ความเป็นธรรม และประชาธิปไตย

      นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการปาฐกถาพิเศษในหัวข้อ “ความทรงจำประชาธิปไตยและบทเรียนจากควังจู” โดย Professor Emeritus Dr. SHIN Gyonggu ผู้อำนวยการ Gwangju International Center ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ ถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์และบทเรียนจากเหตุการณ์ควังจู ซึ่งนับเป็นหนึ่งในเหตุการณ์สำคัญของประวัติศาสตร์ประชาธิปไตยเกาหลีใต้ เพื่อเชื่อมโยงกับการเรียนรู้ประวัติศาสตร์ประชาธิปไตยและการต่อสู้เพื่อสิทธิและเสรีภาพในสังคมไทย

      กิจกรรมยังประกอบด้วยการฉายภาพยนตร์สั้น The Echoes Remembered of Souls โดยกลุ่ม Young Active และการนำเสนอของนักศึกษาในหัวข้อ “บทเรียนจากควังจูสู่เหตุการณ์ 6 ตุลาคม 2519” โดย นางสาววิภาวี ศรีรักษ์ และนางสาวสิริรัศมิ์ อำนวยพงศา นักศึกษาคณะสาธารณสุขศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล สะท้อนมุมมองของคนรุ่นใหม่ต่อความทรงจำทางประวัติศาสตร์ และบทเรียนที่สามารถนำมาปรับใช้กับการสร้างสังคมประชาธิปไตยในปัจจุบัน

      ในช่วงบ่าย จัดวงเสวนา “จากพี่ถึงน้อง: จิตวิญญาณมหิดลเพื่อสังคมสันติประชาธรรม” โดยมี ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.นพ.วีระศักดิ์ จงสู่วิวัฒน์วงศ์ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.เนตรนภา ขุมทอง นางสาวอนันฐิยานุช คำเห็น ประธานสภานักศึกษามหิดล ปี 2568–2570 และกลุ่มศิษย์เก่ามหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองเกี่ยวกับบทบาทของมหิดลในการสร้างสังคมสันติประชาธรรม โดยมี ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.พัทธ์ธีรา นาคอุไรรัตน์ เป็นผู้ดำเนินรายการ

       ในโอกาสนี้ รองศาสตราจารย์ ร.ท. ทพ.ชัชชัย คุณาวิศรุต รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายกิจการนักศึกษาและศิษย์เก่าสัมพันธ์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ให้เกียรติมอบของที่ระลึกแก่ผู้ร่วมเสวนาและวิทยากร เพื่อเป็นการแสดงความขอบคุณและร่วมส่งต่อพลังแห่งการเรียนรู้จากคนรุ่นหนึ่งสู่คนอีกรุ่นหนึ่ง

      สำหรับกิจกรรมภาคปฏิบัติ ยังมีเวิร์กช็อป “การออกแบบห้องเรียนเพื่อสันติภาพและความเป็นธรรมทางสังคม” โดย Daybreaker Network x insKru โดยมี ดร.วัชรฤทัย บุญธินันทน์ จากสถาบันสิทธิมนุษยชนและสันติศึกษา ร่วมให้ข้อคิดเห็น และเวิร์กช็อป “สื่อสารเพื่อสันติภาพสำหรับพลเมืองประชาธิปไตย” โดยกลุ่ม Critizen สถาบันสื่อเด็กและเยาวชน (สสย.) โดยมี ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.นภารัตน์ กรรณรัตนสูตร จากสถาบันสิทธิมนุษยชนและสันติศึกษา ร่วมให้ข้อคิดเห็น

       เทศกาลสันติภาพ 2569 (Peace Festival Week 2026) จึงเป็นมากกว่าพื้นที่จัดกิจกรรม หากแต่เป็นพื้นที่แห่งความทรงจำ การเรียนรู้ และการสนทนาระหว่างคนต่างรุ่น เพื่อร่วมกันตั้งคำถามต่อบทเรียนจากอดีต และค้นหาความหมายของ “จิตวิญญาณมหิดล” ในการร่วมสร้างสังคมที่เคารพศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์ มีความเป็นธรรม และอยู่ร่วมกันบนพื้นฐานของสันติภาพและประชาธิปไตย โดยเทศกาลสันติภาพมีกำหนดจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปีในช่วงวันสันติภาพไทย 16 สิงหาคม และมุ่งพัฒนาให้เป็นพื้นที่การเรียนรู้ด้านสันติภาพในระดับนานาชาติต่อไป

Mahidol University’s Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies Hosts “Peace Festival 2026,” Carrying Forward the Mahidol Spirit for a Peaceful and Democratic Society through Lessons from Gwangju toward the 50th Anniversary of the 6 October Events

       The Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), Pridi Institute, 6 October Archive Project, Poompanya History Group, Mahidol University Archives and Museum, the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, the College of Music, Mahidol University, and the Child and Youth Media Institute (CYMI), organized the “Mahidol Spirit for a Peaceful and Democratic Society: Lessons from Gwangju, South Korea, toward the 50th Anniversary of the 6 October Events and Thai Democracy”, also known as Peace Festival Week 2026, from 17–19 August 2026 at Mahidol University, Salaya.

      The festival provides a space for learning, dialogue, and reflection on history, democracy, human rights, and peace through the lens of the Gwangju Uprising in South Korea, connecting its lessons with the events of 6 October 1976 in Thailand and the continuing pursuit of a peaceful and democratic society.

      On 17 August 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Padtheera Narkurairattana, Acting Deputy Director for Administration, Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University, welcomed speakers and distinguished guests and introduced the background and objectives of the Peace Festival. She emphasized the festival’s role in creating a space where people of different generations can come together, exchange perspectives, and learn from experiences of the past in order to contribute to a society that respects human rights, diversity, and democracy.

      The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Piyamitr Sritara, President of Mahidol University, who officially declared Peace Festival Week 2026 open at the Mahidol Sitthakarn Convention and Parking Building, Mahidol University, Salaya.

     The programme featured a keynote lecture entitled “The Remaining Responsibilities of Mahidol after Five Decades of Social Movements,” delivered by Professor Dr. Weerasak Jongudwivat, an alumnus of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. The lecture reflected on the role and social responsibility of educational institutions, as well as the continuation of the Mahidol spirit in contributing to a society grounded in peace, justice, and democracy.

      The festival also featured a special lecture on “Democratic Memory and Lessons from Gwangju” by Professor Emeritus Dr. Shin Gyonggu, Director of the Gwangju International Center, Republic of Korea. Drawing on experiences and lessons from the Gwangju Uprising—one of the significant events in South Korea’s democratic history—the lecture explored connections with Thailand’s own democratic history and struggles for rights and freedoms.

     Other activities included a screening of the short film The Echoes Remembered of Souls by the Young Active Group, as well as a student presentation entitled “Lessons from Gwangju to the 6 October 1976 Events,” presented by Ms. Wipawi Srirak and Ms. Sirirat Amnuayphongsa, students from the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University. The presentation offered perspectives from the younger generation on historical memory and the lessons that can be applied to strengthening democratic society in the present day.

      In the afternoon, a panel discussion entitled “From One Generation to the Next: The Mahidol Spirit for a Peaceful and Democratic Society” brought together Professor Dr. Weerasak Jongudwivat, Assistant Professor Dr. Netnapha Khumthong, Ms. Ananthiyanuch Khamhen, President of the Mahidol University Student Council for 2025–2027, and representatives of the Mahidol University Alumni Network. The panel explored the role of Mahidol University in fostering a peaceful and democratic society, with Assistant Professor Dr. Padtheera Narkurairattana serving as moderator.

       On this occasion, Associate Professor Lieutenant Commander Dr. Chatchai Kunavisarut, Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Mahidol University, presented commemorative gifts to the speakers and panelists as a gesture of appreciation and recognition of their contributions to intergenerational learning and dialogue.

      The festival also featured practical workshops, including “Designing Classrooms for Peace and Social Justice,” organized by Daybreaker Network x insKru, with Dr. Watchararuethai Boonthinan from the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies providing comments and reflections; and “Communicating for Peaceful Democratic Citizenship,” organized by the Critizen Group, Child and Youth Media Institute (CYMI), with Assistant Professor Dr. Naparat Kannaratansut from the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies providing comments and reflections.

      Peace Festival Week 2026 is more than a series of events. It serves as a space for remembrance, learning, and intergenerational dialogue, inviting participants to revisit lessons from the past and explore the meaning of the “Mahidol Spirit” in contributing to a society that respects human dignity, promotes justice, and embraces peaceful and democratic coexistence.

      The Peace Festival is scheduled to take place annually around Thai Peace Day on 16 August, with the long-term goal of developing the festival into an international platform for learning, dialogue, and exchange on peace and peacebuilding.
